AMA provided Quay West Grimsby LLP with highways and transportation advice on a successful planning application for a new Costa Coffee Drive-Thru and Subway Restaurant within the existing Birchin Way Retail Park in Grimsby.
The retail park is accessed via a single point of access to and from Birchin Way, with the car park providing spaces for the holistic retail site, therefore parking demand and accumulation were key considerations.
The site included a number of specific considerations and inputs:
- Preparing a strong case that the scheme would only result in approximately 20% new trips and seek approval in principle on this from the Local Highway Authority.
- Determination of the existing retail park car parking demand and justification that the proposals could be catered for by the holistic parking provision on site.
- Given the singular point of access, AMA required to justify the impact on the scheme and provide an assessment of the cumulative trip generation for the proposed and existing uses.
- Provide swept path analysis of the drive thru lane and servicing requirements.
