Project Overview

AMA prepared a Highways Supporting Statement to accompany a planning application for a new leisure destination proposing a 14 Yurt retreat, near Eavestone, Harrogate.

The site access was located on a rural national speed limit road as such requiring extensive visibility splays on a road with some undulations. As such visibility splays required proving in detail to the LHA, NYCC.

Key Inputs / Outcomes

  • AMA instructed a topographical survey of the visibility extents over a 550m length of road and undertook an iterative site access design exercise.
  • The location of the access was dictated by undertaking an appraisal of vertical masking, forward visibility and object height over the required splay lengths in each direction (215m as speeds 60mph).
  • AMA prepared visibility splay long section plans evidencing to NYCC Highways that suitable splays and an access design could be achieved for the proposed development.
  • AMA produced the detailed design for the site access as well as providing the designs and arrangement of appropriate licensing for the construction works.
