Project Overview
AMAs client acquired a significant industrial development site of c.400,000ft2 in North Bireley, Bradford with an outline planning consent, including means of access and agreed off-site mitigation works.
AMA were appointed to provide a full suite of S278 detailed design drawings to both Kirklees Highways and Highways England to alter the approach lanes, including road widening at the M606 / M62 Chain bar junction.
The drawings pack required to satisfy both Kirklees and Highways England from an operational and capacity perspective, with AMA agreeing these works and achieving the Technical Approval of the designs.
Key Inputs / Outcomes
- In addition to the S278 Technical Approval process, AMA sought to reduce the scope of works to seek Kirklees and Highway’s England’s acceptance that the existing junction layout could accommodate the proposed development without alteration.
- AMA prepared revised Linsig signal junction modelling of the proposed development traffic’s impact and are currently going through the process of its agreement.
- If the works are successfully agreed, this will result in a significant cost saving for the client, but also operational savings and remove disruption to this strategic junction as no construction would be required.
