Project Overview
AMA were commissioned to produce a comprehensive set of reports and drawings to support a full planning application for a 150-student career hub (further education) on land to the north of Badsley Moor Lane, Rotherham. The site was a former NHS assisted living bungalow site surplus to requirements.
The commission included Highways and Infrastructure advice, including a Transport Statement (TS), Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) and Drainage Strategy (DS).
Key Inputs / Outcomes
- AMA agreed with the Local Highway Authority that a TS would be sufficient to assess the development given the proposals are to ‘bus’ students to site from the wider Rotherham area rather than be accessible by private cars and individuals.
- The proposed Drainage Strategy sought to maximise the case for existing impermeable areas and a maximum run off rate from the site with Yorkshire Water. In addition the proposals sought to retain surface water on site through suitable Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, to minimise costs of upgrading any existing infrastructure.
- Given the limited parking demand on site compared with a ‘traditional’ education site, the provision was justified though a bespoke site specific case and its parking accumulation,
- AMA also provided comprehensive Swept Path Analysis of buses and service vehicles on site.
