AMA provided highways and transportation advice relating to the re-development of the former Haworth Fire Station, to a new food retail unit gaining a successful planning consent.
The proposals were for a retail store of 4,000ft2 with supporting car parking and servicing facilities.
AMA provided a full highways service taking the scheme through the scoping process, preparing a Transport Statement, Travel Plan, Car Park Management Strategy, Road Safety Audit and Section 278 Design of the proposed highway improvements.
Given the sites location bounding a railway, mini-roundabout and railway yard, the site access strategy was paramount to this scheme, including its detailed design. Key inputs included:
- Undertaking speed surveys on Station Road to justify pro-rata visibility splays and a suitable access design which accommodated customer and service vehicles safely.
- An iterative process with Bradford Highways to agree the access design and level of scheme impact.
- Agreement on the off-site highway improvements including a bespoke pedestrian access design.
- Preparation of the Section 278 agreement detailed design drawings for agreement with Bradford Highways to Technical Approval and the tendering process
