AMA were commissioned by Watson Batty Architects Ltd on behalf of Clugston Construction to prepare a Transport Assessment (TA) in support of a planning application for a 446 pupil primary school with nursery located on Milking Lane, Nuneaton.
In addition a planning application was also submitted for a 30-pupil temporary primary school on part of the site that would accommodate the permanent school as an interim classroom solution.
The planning submissions were supported by both a Transport Assessment and Statement respectively.
Both schemes received planning consent.
AMA provided the following key inputs to the benefit of the scheme:
- Assessed the impact of the 446 pupil school and 52 members of staff on a number of existing junctions on the highway network in relation to their capacity.
- AMA constructed an argument that a number of trips to / from the site would be related to committed residential developments in the vicinity of the site and would be ‘existing’ rather than ‘new’ trips. As such these could not be attributed to development proposals and resulting in a lower impact.
- AMA concluded that the development would result in no adverse or negative impact and as such the school would be delivered without the need for highways mitigation or off site developer contributions.
