Project Overview

AMA staff assisted Opus North achieve planning consent on this site for a large discount food retail unit and supporting retail stores, known as the Eccleshill Retail Park, Bradford.

This included supporting the scheme through the planning process and achieving planning consent.

AMA produced a package of Section 278 detailed design drawings to secure technical approval for the proposed upgrading and widening / re‐kerbing of Harrogate Road to create a site access and include a new pedestrian crossing point.

Key Inputs / Outcomes

  • To ensure the maximisation of the developable floor area, AMA prepared a number of access design iterations working with the client’s architect to agree an optimum position which complimented both the site’s internal layout but also met highways design standards.
  • The site access was located in an area of numerous utilities providers apparatus within the public highway (and footway), AMA ensured that diversion costs were minimised with the site access being engineered to ensure the lowest cost of diversions, resulting in the relocation of a single inspection chamber within the site access.
  • AMA’s designs also complimented the extant planning consent to the rear of the site for 750 dwellings and their agreed S278 improvements to the ‘Ring of Bells’ roundabout.
  • AMA prepared the full suite of S278 detailed design drawings achieving technical approval with BMDC.
